What is MarkerGhost?

A number of years ago, I had a lengthy conversation about creating art with a fellow artist. As we spoke about our respective processes, I found it incredible enlightening to hear how someone else's brain worked, and how vastly different it was from mine: Whereas he would let the artwork manifest itself until he knew it was finished, I could see the finished artwork on the surface (a ghost of a marker, if you will), and worked until what was in my mind appeared in front of me.

Two completely different approaches, each with its own unique advantages and disadvantages.

In cooking terms, he preferred to look in the oven until he felt it was done, and I knew what the picture looked like in the cookbook, and worked toward that result.

Combining that curiosity of the artistic process with my exposure to meeting artists in the illustration world, I knew that I absolutely loved to get insight into the thoughts and processes behind the work I adored. I decided to start a website: reviewing the books that I loved and interviewing the creative minds behind them.
